Frequently Asked Questions

To be eligible to qualify for a Customers Bank Credit Card, customers must:

  • be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident currently living in the U.S., unless military personnel on active duty, in which case it is not required that the applicant be currently living in the US.
  • not reside in Hawaii, Iowa, Oklahoma, Oregon, or any of the US territories
  • be at least 18 years old and has certified that he/she is of legal borrowing age in the state of your primary residence
  • have a valid email account
  • have a verifiable name, date of birth, and social security number
  • have income to support the overall debt obligation, for example: have a full-time job, a part-time job, self-employed, or another source of regular income; and
  • meet our minimum credit requirements

Customers Bank Borrowers must have a minimum FICO score of 700 as reported by Experian (credit reporting agency). NOTE: we do not accept applicants with insufficient credit history to produce a credit score; FICO score is just one component of the application criteria that can impact the decisioning of the application.

Unfortunately, we cannot make individual exceptions to our eligibility requirements or minimum credit requirements. If your application is denied, you are welcome to reapply. You can do so by completing the application again when your financial circumstances improve.

A customer is eligible to have one consumer Customers Bank credit card at a time.

Simply go to cards.customersbank.com and answer a few questions to find out if you pre-qualify for a Customers Bank credit card. We will then let you know if you are pre-qualified, for what credit limit, and how to finalize your application. Checking to see if you are pre-qualified will not impact your credit score.

If applying via the web, you will receive a QR code to scan with your phone to add the Customers Bank Credit Card App to continue with the application. Once you’ve downloaded the app, login using the same email address you used to start your application.

If applying via your mobile device, please go to your App store to download the Customers Bank Credit Card App.

An App store (or app marketplace) is a type of digital distribution platform for computer software called applications, often in a mobile context. You can download the Customers Bank Mobile App on the Apple App Store or Google Play Store. There is no fee or charge to download the app.

You will need the Customers Bank Credit Card App to apply for the credit card and you will need the App to manage your account. You can download the Customers Bank Mobile App on the Apple App Store or Google Play Store.

You will need to provide personal information, including your:

  • Full Name
  • Mobile Phone number
  • Date of Birth
  • Address
  • Social Security Number
  • Income
  • Source of Income
  • Employment/ Employment Status
  • Living situation (rent, own or other)
  • Housing expenses
  • Picture ID – US Based driver’s license or State ID
  • A selfie photo will be required as part of the process to match you with your ID photo

If your application needs additional review and you still need to provide identification, the following forms of ID are acceptable:

  • US Passport
  • US Passport Card
  • US Permanent Resident Card
  • US Employment Authorization Card

Note: There may be times when applicants are asked to verify some of their information at the time of application. If verification is requested, applicants will be asked to submit within 30 days of the application start date; otherwise, you will be asked to reapply.

If additional documents are requested for the credit card application to be decisioned and finalized, please submit as quickly as possible, and within 30 days of application start date; otherwise, the application process would have to start over. Once the additional documentation is received, it is generally reviewed within two business days, but in some instances the review could take longer.

We take individual income and household income into consideration.

Some examples of income are:

  • Salary, paid by your employer
  • Hourly wages including overtime, full-time, part-time, or seasonal jobs
  • Self-employment income
  • Trust, Pension, Disability, Retirement, or Social Security income
  • Public assistance.

You may also include shared income, which is money from somebody else that is regularly deposited into your individual account or into a joint account that person shares with you.

If you are 21 or over, you may also include somebody else’s income that is regularly used to pay your expenses.

We may work with third party providers to verify your income.

Instructions will be provided via email on how to submit documentation. This is to ensure that information reported on the application is accurately inputted. Your documentation will be reviewed, and all updates will be given via email. We may reach out via phone at the number provided on the application if there are additional questions.

Note, not all applications will be required to submit documentation. Only if documentation is needed will we reach out via email.

The credit inquiry we process when you initially apply is based on your name, address, Social Security Number, and date of birth. If there are any mistakes in these factors, we may not be able to get your credit information. Please make sure that there are no spelling mistakes or other errors for these entries.

We will also not be able to retrieve a credit report if it is locked or frozen. If you currently have placed a freeze on your account or have submitted a consumer alert to the credit reporting agencies, you can contact the credit bureaus directly to unfreeze it.

No. There is no annual fee for a Customers Bank Credit Card.

You will generally get a response in minutes.

We will notify you in writing via email of our decision within 30 days of your application start date (approval or denial). In the event of denial, please note that Adverse Action Letters will be sent via email.

The credit limit, also known as credit line, is the maximum amount of credit available to you for purchasing goods and services.

Credit limits range from $500.00 to $25,000 based on qualifications and credit worthiness.

We determine your credit limit after a review of the information submitted with your application, the ability to repay, and review other third-party sources such as credit bureau information.

Unfortunately, we cannot change your credit limit after you have accepted the terms. In the future, Customers Bank may conduct a review of all account holders’ credit to consider cards for credit line increases. Cardholders will be notified if the credit limits are changed.

To apply for a Customers Bank credit card, you must agree to all applicable laws as set forth in the Customers Bank Privacy Policy, the Deserve Privacy Policy and Electronic Communication Policy. If you choose to accept the credit card offer, you must agree to the Customers Bank Cardholder Agreement, and Customers Bank Credit Card Rewards Program Terms and Conditions You must read and agree to all these agreements and policies carefully as they include important information relating to your Customers Bank Credit Card.

No, unfortunately, you cannot negotiate the rate or terms. Rates are generated based on the details that you entered onto our application along with your soft credit inquiry.

We use your social security number to run your credit report and verify your personal information. Your personal information is stored securely and used in accordance with all applicable laws as set forth in the Customers Bank Privacy Policy and the Deserve Privacy Policy. Please note, seeing if you are prequalified for credit, prior to applying via the App, will not affect your credit score.

Yes, you may apply again at any time, as your financial circumstances improve.

Fees for Customers Bank Mastercard products are competitive.  Fees associated with your credit card account include finance charges, late fees, cash advance fees, and returned payment fees. Check your Cardholder Agreement for details on fees and charges that may be associated with your account.

Credit cards issued through Customers Bank have a variable interest rate, tied to the prime rate, which means it can change throughout the life of the card.

No, not at the current time; all credit card applications must be applied for in an individual name.

Once you are approved, you will receive your virtual Customers Bank Mastercard card account number instantly (instant issuance) on the Customer Bank Credit Card App. No activation is required for your virtual card. You will be able to use the card through your mobile wallet.

Instant Issuance means that the credit card account number is issued on the spot and then can be used immediately upon activation. You will be able to make purchases with Apple Pay, Google Pay, and Samsung Pay (you will need to manually add Samsung pay).

You will receive a plastic card in the mail in approximately 7 to 10 business days from the date of acceptance. You will need to activate your plastic credit card before you use it.
