Customers Bank contributes $20,000 to support Philadelphia community organizations

Wyomissing, Pa. (March 17, 2016) - Customers Bank, a community-based bank with locations throughout the Greater Philadelphia region, has contributed to four community organizations that serve Philadelphia neighborhoods: Entrepreneur Works, The Enterprise Center, the Hispanic Association of Contractors and Enterprise (HACE) and the Korean Community Development Services Center.

Customers Bank presented each organization with a $5,000 contribution at its open house on March 15, 2016 at its office in North Philadelphia. Local community leaders, business owners and Customers Bank officials were in attendance.

“Customers Bank is dedicated to fostering small business growth throughout Philadelphia neighborhoods,” said Tim Romig, Customers Bank Executive Vice President and Pennsylvania and New Jersey Group Director. “Our contributions to these organizations will help support local business owners in operating and growing their small businesses.”

The following organizations received contributions from Customers Bank during the Philadelphia Open House on March 15, 2016:

  • Entrepreneur Works, a non-profit microenterprise development organization focused on growing businesses and jobs in local communities in Philadelphia and Chester. Entrepreneur Works provides a comprehensive array of financial and business development services including: small business and peer loans, business skills workshops and classes, business consulting, and networking.
  • The Enterprise Center has a mission to cultivate and invest in minority entrepreneurs to inspire working together for economic growth in communities. Founded in 1989 by the Wharton Small Business Development Center, The Enterprise Center provides access to capital, capacity building, business education and economic development opportunities to high-potential, minority entrepreneurs.
  • The Hispanic Association of Contractors and Enterprise (HACE) has a mission to combat community deterioration through economic development initiatives that address commercial revitalization, employment opportunities, the creation of safe affordable housing, and the provision of support services to meet the needs of community residents towards re-building the neighborhood’s economic base. HACE focuses on the possible and works to restore primary neighborhoods so that residents benefit from sound investments that improve quality of life.
  • The Korean Community Development Services Center is a nonprofit located in the Olney neighborhood of Philadelphia that is focused on providing the support services that address needs within the community so that community members can achieve personal growth and pursue community growth. Since the early 1980’s, the Korean Community Development Services Center has helped thousand of individuals, families, and businesses in the community overcome countless obstacles, whether purchasing a first home or assisting struggling businesses in obtaining more funding.
